This week I joined ‘The Kayla Movement’.
For those of you that don’t know, Kayla Itsines is an Australian fitness instructor who has attracted a fan base of almost 2 million Instagram followers from all over the world. She’s created a bikini body guide that promises to transform you in just 12 weeks. The guide recommends doing 3 28-minute sessions of resistance training a week (legs and cardio, arms and abs and full body), 2 LISS cardio sessions (e.g. 30-40 min walk) and 1 stretching session or “rehab” as she appropriately calls it. The workouts can easily be done at home, substituting a bench for stairs and weights for water bottles if necessary, and the step-by-step pictures of each exercise make it really easy to follow.
Though the workouts themselves are far from easy, all the before and after pictures on Instagram provide the perfect motivation to get through it. One week in and I may find myself dreading the sight of stairs and seriously aching in the morning (amateur – I know), but if my body is anywhere near as good as Kayla’s in 12-weeks, it will all be worth it! No pain no gain – right?
